Prevent this type of tragedy with fast action with natural remedies for a cold or flu

A close friend suffered the death of his grandson from this season’s particularly virulent strain of flu. He was a healthy young athlete in perfect physical condition. As I learned the tragic story, it sickened me to think that he might have been able to help if we had acted quickly. There is much we can do using essential oils and other natural and safe means to prevent such tragedies, but we must learn about them and act quickly.

I recently read this advice in the Mercola.com newsletter, “use natural antibiotics. Examples include oregano oil and garlic.” This article affirmed what we have known for years about essential oils. They work “as broad-spectrum antibiotics against bacteria, viruses, and protozoa in your body.” Unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics, “they don’t seem to build resistance.” There are many more essential oils besides oregano and many highly effective antiviral therapies. Here are the ones I use.

At the first sign of a cold or flu symptom (chills and fever, scratchy throat, sinus headache, upset stomach, etc.), I jump into action instantly using a blend of oils that I recommend all the time. I call it the defense mix and I use it aggressively in every possible way: ingestion, topical application, and diffusion (into the lungs).

I start with the “lick trick”. I put a trace of the mixture on the back of my hand, lick it off and distribute the molecules around my mouth with my tongue, especially at the back of my throat. This immediately gets the antiviral molecules to work in my sinuses, throat, and digestive system. They are also absorbed into the capillaries in my mouth. I do this every few minutes until the sore throat starts to go away. If I feel like it comes back or gets worse in the middle of the night, I get up and do it over and over for an hour or so. I don’t keep waiting because viruses multiply fast and hold on tight.

I take the essential oil capsules that I create myself with this mixture. I suggest taking 3 to 5 a day. I often take more, especially at the first sign of an infection. During cold and flu season, I suggest taking one capsule daily.

I diffuse the mixture while showering, bathing or shaving. The steam and essential oils soothe the infected areas of my nose and throat and help keep my lungs infection-free. I also put a few drops at a time in a pot of boiling water and inhale to keep my sinuses clear. This is important if the infection develops into laryngitis.

Topical application of the oils is essential for keeping coughs, ear infections, and sinus infections under control. I dilute and use the mixture on my chest and around my ears (not in the ear canal). I apply it on my forehead and around my nose and cheeks where the molecules can be absorbed into the sinus areas.

I take a hot bath every day with about 20 drops of the mixture mixed with Epsom salts. After bathing, I apply the mixture undiluted to the soles of my feet before putting on my socks.

I also take a lot of extra vitamin D3 and see a health professional if the condition gets out of hand in any way. I don’t hesitate to use prescription antibiotics if necessary. But I still use the essential oils along with the probiotics. They clean infections much faster and more thoroughly.

Here is the recipe for my defense mix: In a 15 ml amber dropper bottle I put 20 drops of oregano, 20 drops of peppermint, 20 drops of geranium, 20 drops of basil and 100 drops of tea tree. If I’m making capsules, I fill the bottle to the top with grapeseed oil, shake, and fill my capsules. I also use the mixture undiluted.

This blend contains oregano and other highly effective, safe, and well-researched essentials that are “broad-spectrum antibiotics against bacteria, viruses, and protozoa in your body” (“Vaccine Propagada Heats Up,” Mercola.com.
