The University of Rochester Medical Center’s dermatology CEUS for nurse practitioners offers an advanced training program in dermatology for health care professionals. This twenty-four month program is comprised of 80% clinical time and 20% didactic time. The course includes a core curriculum of general medical dermatology and clinical rotations in subspecialties of dermatology. Successful NP trainees are eligible for full-time employment with a dermatology department.
Both NPs and physicians ranked dermatology CEUS items similarly. Of the 20 items, dermatology NPs and physicians agreed on the majority of them. The curricular areas dermatologists and NPs agreed on were the skin examination and advanced surgical skills. However, the lowest ranked items were primarily role-related. Some dermatology NPs and dermatologists agreed on the top 15 curricular items.
