I know, I know, looks like a lot of supplies, right? Well, it is if you’re not in the tile business, but many homeowners will already have quite a few of these things lying around the house or garage somewhere.

Now that we have our supplies, we are ready to begin the 5-step grouting process. Wait…check your list again, because once you start, it’s hard to put things on hold while you search for the right supplies to finish the project.

OKAY … Step one, removing old grout, caulk or silicone. Using a razor, scrape away all of the old grout from the corners, around the tub, toilet, and anything else in the area you will be regrouting. Using your grout removal tool, remove the old grout from the grout joints in a pulling motion.

On Second step of the grouting process which will be the mold/bacteria treatment. Spray mold/bacteria treatment over the entire area to be regrouted. Let sit for approximately 15-20 minutes before proceeding to the next step.

Step three of the grouting process is to wash the tile. Spray the cleaner on the tile, and then let it sit for another 15 to 20 minutes. Scrub the entire area with a scrub brush and warm water to rinse away the cleaner.

During Step four of the grouting process we will apply the new grout. Mix the grout with “warm” water and your grout enhancer additive. Once your grout is consistent, begin applying the grout using your grout float in a diagonal direction across the length of the tile. Once you have finished grouting the area, wash the grout joints with a sponge and cold water.

Now you are ready for the Fifth step to complete the 5-step grouting process. Seal all areas where you regrouted. Using your sponge, apply the sealer to all the areas that you re-grouted. Allow the sealer to dry for approximately 2-4 hours before buffing the tile with a dry towel.
