4 tips that would save you from having compromised animated explainer video quality

Animated explainer videos are extremely effective in getting your message across in an understandable way. However, the real challenge lies in making sure the quality of your explainer video is flawless. Here are four helpful tips that could prevent a low-quality animated explainer video from being produced.

1. Finish your script before the animation process begins.

In the video production process, animation is done on the basis of the script. Once the animation is complete and the final video is produced, altering the script would only deteriorate the quality of the video. This is because consequently the animation would have to be modified as well, which would require that part to be made from scratch. The altered part can appear as a patch and break the flow of the video, thus reducing its overall quality. Therefore, it is important to finalize the script before submitting it for animation.

2. Specify the smallest details, up front.

It is recommended that even the smallest details, such as color specifications, logo details (where and when to put it on the video), etc., are provided right at the beginning of the production process. Any redo / revision is strictly inadvisable as the new specs may not fit as well and may actually diminish the visual appeal of the video.

3. Final speech versus fictitious speech

Voice-overs form the basis of the explanatory videos. For a video to look professional, perfect timing between voice-over and animation is a must! Sometimes during the video production process, the animation is first done on the basis of a fictional voice-over which is then replaced by the final voice-over. This is a No-No! The final voiceover could have some variations from the fictional voiceover, in terms of the speed of the voiceover narration, emphasis on particular words, pause locations, etc. This creates a mismatch between the animation and the voiceover, which deteriorates the quality of the video. Even a thoroughly out-of-sync video could confuse viewers and make them feel annoyed at the poor quality. Therefore, it is better to animate the video based on the final voiceover rather than a fictional voiceover.

4. Finish step by step

Typically, the video production process involves the following steps in the given sequential order:

  • Investigate
  • Scripting
  • Storyboarding
  • Voice-over recording
  • Animation
  • Delivery

Since the video is built gradually, based on the result of the previous step, therefore, avoiding going back to a previous step during the production process. Since it is extremely important to have the perfect synchronization between the script (voice-over) and the animation, altering anything in these elements often interrupts the flow of the message, making it ambiguous.

These precautionary tips could help eliminate unwanted items that could put viewers off. Follow these and get an amazing animated explainer video for promoting your brand.
