TV mounts attached to Thermalite blocks

New buildings are built with termalite blocks, which makes it difficult to simply install TV wall mounts on walls. Termalite blocks are used in constructions that do not require heavy cement blocks but prefer to use blocks instead of wood. The closed air cell structure provides good thermal insulation, making it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, resulting in less energy use and fewer insulation materials. It can also withstand high temperature fires. A block of termalite is very light and can be held in one hand. Once plastered on the wall, it is difficult to differentiate it from a concrete block. However, it is noticeable when drilling the wall. The material is so soft that any drill can drill a hole through it. Drilling a hole at an exact position is difficult as the drill may go off tangent due to smoothness. This will affect the screwing of the TV mounts to the wall. You need to drill very slowly and carefully to make sure the holes are straight. You can attach the wall brackets using universal anchors with two-inch screws into the concrete. Universal plugs do not require hammer action when drilling the hole.

When drilling the holes, start with a small hole and slowly enlarge the holes until the plugs fit the hole exactly. If your TV wall mount is equipped with a tilt function or mounts flat to the wall, and your TV weighs less than thirty kilograms, you can drill the holes in the wall, insert the plugs, and screw it in firmly. Take care when tightening the screws as too much pressure could cause the thermolyte blocks to loosen along the sides of the screws inside the block. The TV wall mount can support the weight of the TV, but the thermolite block could eventually loosen and give way under the weight of the TV wall mount and TV. This becomes more risky when a cantilever motion TV mount is placed where you can pull the TV off the wall. The leverage and movement of the TV can be absorbed by the wall mounts, but the themolite wall may give way under the added stress.

You can use special thermolite fixings to ensure that the TV mounts are firmly secured to the wall. It is done by inserting special epoxy glue into the drilled hole before the screw, and the glue penetrates into the block to form a strong fixation. As you drive the screw into the hole, the epoxy helps bond the screws to the cement, allowing for a firmer grip. You will notice that as the screws enter the hole, excess epoxy will form around the outer surroundings of the hole, providing additional support for the board. Some people recommend applying epoxy glue, regardless of the material, to make sure the screws and the metal plate of the TV mount are firmly secured in place. Minimizes the danger of the TV mount coming off the wall. Use the appropriate epoxy glue for the material on which it is going to be applied. It may cost a bit more and may take more time and effort to apply the glue, but it minimizes the risk of the TV and wall mount falling off the wall.
