swings for babies

Baby swings are ideal for babies and toddlers. When your baby was an infant, they probably enjoyed the self-propelled indoor bouncer that soothed newborns through continuous movement. However, soon the baby outgrows them and an outdoor swing is usually the next option. Children love to swing. There are several options for a baby swing for your rocking set and proper research will ensure that you purchase the right one. Searching the Internet will allow you to limit your options by age, use, model, material and more.

Baby swing styles include high back molded swings, full bucket swings, and half bucket swings. Each type is made a bit differently and has its own advantages. The high-back molded swing has a high backrest with an adjustable seat belt (sometimes a 5-point harness) and a molded support bar that often has a piece that fits between the baby’s legs. This swing is suitable for babies.

Bucket swings are made for toddlers, ages 1-3, and weighing up to 75 pounds. These are made of durable polymer. The full bucket envelops the child completely; while the half cube has the back, but not the front. The full bucket provides the greatest safety for the baby. The half bucket is designed to allow the child to learn how to make the swing move on its own and as a way to transition to a normal swing seat.

Buying swings with plastic-coated chains reduces the chances of being pinched. It also makes holding the chain easier for little hands. Babies and young children should never be left unattended in any swing, even one with a 5-point harness. If the swing has a seat belt or harness system, it must be used every time baby is placed in the swing, even when baby can sit up on their own and the bar is used. Periodically check swings, chains and hardware to ensure safe use.
