For anyone considering a vacation, one of the considerations that needs to be addressed is simply where you will be staying.
The options are really to rent a villa or stay in a hotel, unless of course you are lucky enough to be invited by friends.
The first option is usually to stay in a hotel. You are sure of a place to stay and that everything will be taken care of for you. You will have the benefit of having a hotel receptionist to guide you and help you with any questions you may have, there will normally be a restaurant within the hotel and there will be an in-house cleaning service to ensure rooms are cleaned on a daily basis.
However, costs can easily add up. First of all, if you are a family of, say, four, you will need to book an expensive suite, or book 2 separate rooms. On an ongoing basis you will have to eat in the hotel restaurant or go out to eat and this will become costly over time. Even a simple bottle of water from the mini bar can cost you many times the costs of a supermarket equivalent. During the day, any services you use, such as hotel pool beds, will likely incur an extra charge. On top of that, if you want to entertain others, that will mean paying for them at hotel or restaurant prices.
So how about a villa? Well, you will be surprised how affordable a villa can be, especially if you are a family or even a group of friends who want to share the villa. The cost of the villa is a one-time cost and as long as there are enough bedrooms in the house and it is within the maximum allowed by the rental agreement, as many people as you wish can stay in the property at no additional cost.
As for food, you are not obliged to eat out on all occasions and you can buy food and drinks in local shops and supermarkets and eat at home. If you want to entertain your friends, you can welcome them to your ‘home’.
During the day you can enjoy the pool without having to pay for sun loungers daily.
If your concern is that the house is not cleaned and that cooking and cleaning will ruin your vacation, then you can also hire a maid for the period of your stay and even a cook to take care of you and pamper you completely.
And as for not having a hotel receptionist to help and guide you, remember that if you rent a property through a reputable villa rental company, they will help and assist you as much as possible.
