Father’s Day: Celebrate with 3 New Picture Books

How can you help your children celebrate Father’s Day?

Older children can enjoy activities that make their dad happy; walk, fish, play fish, or watch sports together. They can be creative and make a unique card, cake, or breakfast in bed. Many families enjoy a cookout or a camping trip.

Younger children may not be able to participate in all of these activities, so what better way to enjoy time together than by reading a book with Dad?

Gator Dad, A Brave Bear and Peppa Pig and the Camping Trip are three new picture books published in 2016 that explore the bonds between father and son.

Dad gator

By Brian Lies, Author and Illustrator

Go –

Go!

Gator’s dad and his three little crocs are ready to squeeze the day.

Best-selling author and illustrator Brian Lies celebrates the unique ways dads do things with their little ones. It may be unorthodox, but alligator dad shows his love by making ordinary moments of the day fun. Cooking breakfast, smelling smelly jars in the fridge, and rushing errands keep your rambunctious alligators entertained. It may be silly, but at the end of the day you know how to keep your alligators safe, warm and Good night squeezed.

Each colorful page is illustrated with fun details that will make dads laugh out loud.

A brave bear

Illustrated by Emily Hughes

It’s easy to be a brave bear with your dad by your side.

The sun was hot.

The air was hot.

Even the shadow was hot.

And my dad said, “I think a pair of hot bears is probably the hottest thing in the world.”

But I had a good idea.

I said, “If we go to the river, we can splash around and cool off!”

Dad said, “Okay, let’s go then!”

But the trip to the river may not be that easy.

You have to cross the grassy part.

Then the busy part to move on.

After that, you have to jump from rock to rock.

The baby bear is challenged to make the long walk to the river, but with his father’s encouragement, he succeeds.

We play and cool down.

And I said, “I think a pair of wet bears is probably the wettest thing in the world!”

This sweet story of a father bear and his brave cub is enhanced by illustrator Emily Hughes. Its soft colors and charming illustrations are inspired by picture books from the 1960s and 1970s.
