Best places to visit in New Orleans

As with most great cities, New Orleans offers more than one can see in a day or week. It can be reached by air, because or by boat and transportation is easy and parking, although limited, is not too difficult. If you stay at one of the downtown hotels, you don’t need a car, as walking is easy and fun. Let’s consider some of the best sites in this exciting city.

  1. Tea french quarter It has to be THE number one place in this party town. Here one can find the best restaurants, magnificent hotels and activities that never end.
  2. Bourbon Street is the epic center of The French Quarter. Spanning thirteen blocks, this street epitomizes what New Orleans was like when it was founded in 1718 by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville.
  3. Jean Lafitte Smithy it began life around 1772 as a blacksmith shop for the Lafitte brothers to disguise what was going on in the back (one can let the imagination run wild). Today it is a bar and restaurant.
  4. The old absinthe house was born in 1806 as an import business. Later it became a sedan and today the saga continues.
  5. New Orleans street cars provide one of the best ways to see this fabulous city. It is the oldest streetcar service in the US, even older than San Francisco. Tea San Carlos Line it is the oldest line, in continuous operation for more than 150 years.
  6. Tea Beauregard–Keyes House once owned by famous Civil War General Pierre-Gustave Toutant-Beauregard famous as the New Orleans native who ordered the first shots at Fort Sumter in 1861.
  7. Longue Vue House and Gardens, a hidden paradise of gardens and a beautiful house with period furniture.
  8. Tea magnolia mansionBilled as one of America’s most romantic inns, it’s a pre-war mansion filled with antiques and treasures. One can spend the night in this magnificent mansion if one wishes.
  9. The New Canal Lighthouse built in 1839, recently restored and open to visitors. It is rich in history and offers the opportunity to learn some of the rich history of New Orleans.
  10. Tea US Old Mint it is the only building in the US to serve as the United States and Confederate Mint, filled with many artifacts from this period.
