An insight from Otis G Carol, inventor of constitutional hydrotherapy

Imagine taking a child to a doctor with rheumatic fever and juvenile arthritis so severe that dull fingernails lacerated the palms of their hands. That was the case for Otis G. Carroll (1879-1962). He luckily found a doctor who studied under Sebastian Kneipp, who cured him. Later, Carroll studied herbs. He then went to Chicago where he trained as a chiropractor and naturopath with Henry Lindlair.

Carroll went to Spokane, Washington, to present the natural cure there. There he remained until his death in 1962. His focus was:
o Health must come and be maintained at all times from digested food
o Assimilation turns it into nutrition.
o Failed digestion creates a tendency to disease.

Carroll is remembered for creating constitutional hydrotherapy and developing one of the first methods of uncovering food sensitivities. Constitutional therapy consists of:
o Hot and cold compresses on the chest, abdomen, back
or wool blankets
o Mild electrical stimulation

The treatment stimulates the function of the digestive tract, the immune system, the spinal column, the respiratory systems and the vital centers underlying the treated areas. The system is easy to customize and works well with hypertension, arthritis, diabetes, and infertility. According to Carroll, water treatment never failed if applied correctly. His food sensibility approach was that everyone has food enemies and observing the results of what one consumes is the key to healing.

Carroll found seven main food sensitivities:
or dairy
oFruit
eggs
Potatoes
or sugar
Beans

Carroll also used the diagnosis of the iris. By observing changes in the iris during a healing process, he was able to predict which organ systems might experience a healing crisis. Treatment of it used to be a long-term affair, and modern Americans want a magic bullet that doesn’t come with a natural cure. It takes time.
