A woman is killed during the recording of "roller coaster of love" by Ohio players?

The myth

The Ohio Players, a funk band from the mid-1970s, were considered one of the best bands of their day. This particular myth revolves around the song “Love Rollercoaster”. In the opening part of the song, there is a high-pitched, high-pitched scream from a female voice. The Ohio Players are an all-male singing band, so when a female voice is added, it appears to be accidental rather than deliberate. Therefore, many speculations about the source of the scream began.

The first version of the story says that when the recording takes place, an intruder murders a woman right next to the studio or in the studio itself. The identity of the woman varies from the girlfriend of a member of the gang to the cleaning woman.

What happens is that the “honey” used is actually not honey at all, but some liquid plastic that somehow sticks to the skin, which when removed, peels it off. Someone obviously screwed up. The scream is from the model whose skin is forcibly ripped off as a result. Another version of the same story claims that the model, who is harmed by liquid plastic, threatens to sue. She is then stabbed by the manager (or someone) at that very moment in the studio, causing the scream to be recorded as an accident.

The third version of the rumor is more normal. The scream is taken from a 911 call or a psychiatric helpline call.

The truth

Who better to break a rumor than a gang member? Quoted by Jimmy “Diamond” Williams, he said, “There’s a part of the song where there’s a break. It’s guitars and it’s right before the second verse and Billy Beck does one of those inhalation-type screeches that Millie Rippleton did to get to her high note or Mariah Carey does it to go octaves up. The DJ did this crack and it swept the country. People were asking us, ‘Did you kill this girl in the studio?’ We took a vow of silence because that makes you sell more records.”

Here is a video about this rumor. The scream is from 2:01 to 2:04.

Last words

In my opinion, the fact that the band hid this truth to sell more records may not be so honorable. They should at least clear it up years ago.

Verdict: CAUGHT!!!!!! (See the full article, with illustrations, on the website.)
