The Elf Prince – Book Review

Author Todd McClimans is a fifth grade teacher and young father who lives in Nevada with his family. Todd has been writing short stories for his students for over 10 years and The Elf Prince is his first novel. Todd is currently working on a sequel to this book and has two other book projects ahead of him.

All the elements of a wonderfully mystical tale for young people and for those with young minds are here in this novel. Haunting dreams, loving forest creatures, magic swords, a quest to defeat evil and free its captives along with fun moments and unique characters, truly, it’s all here. Each of Todd’s characters is pressured to find their individual strengths, to embrace the uniqueness of their abilities, and to learn to respect the things they once had reservations about.

There are three main characters in The Elf Prince. “Tenii” is a half-breed dwarf-man and might just be the most interesting wizard readers have met in a long time. “Petra”, a beautiful young fawn, has a persistent and stubbornly determined nature that saves them all more than once. Lastly, there is “Dantin”, the 11-year-old half-blood elf prince, who along with his two brave friends strive to break the hold of Dantin’s ruthless and ruthless uncle. They cannot do this alone and are helped more than once by their friends: Earth, the elf princess and Byron, the leader of a tribe of dwarf warriors.

I must say that this was an excellent novel. Scene transition seamlessly moved from one scene to another in a realistic and engaging style. I thoroughly enjoyed every stage of the story and didn’t want it to end. The beautiful cover of the book is certainly a plus for The Elf Prince, illustrating one of the two intricately carved magical medallions that are part of the story.
